    We invite individuals (ages 7 and up) of all skill levels to come have fun on the water, learn to sail or improve their sailing skills, and make friends. Sailing is a great way to spend a summer day!

    Program includes, games on land and water, as well as CANSail Sailing curriculum.

    General Information:

    • The Learn to Sail Program will run for 6 weeks this summer Monday through Friday from 9am – 12pm.
    • All Learn to Sail course sessions are one week long and follow the CANSail curriculum.
    • With a focus on having fun, certified sailing instructors teach key skills to different levels and ages with a priority on safe learning for everyone.
    • The Head Instructor will attempt to accommodate all requests for lessons, depending on boat and instructor availability.
    • The Club makes every effort to accommodate all desired registrations but reserves the right to limit class size to ensure a safe environment for all.
    • Classes are open to members and guests.

    Summer Fun is ZZYC’s tried and true program for children. Indoor and outdoor games, arts & crafts and swimming are all part of this safe and well-supervised program. Participants should bring a drink and snack (no peanuts), a hat, lifejacket, sunscreen, bathing suit, towel, and proper footwear for running and climbing.

    Swimming lessons run 5 consecutive days Monday to Friday. We have not pre-scheduled class times as we'd like to try and accommodate everyone as best as possible. When you register you'll be asked to give your week and time preference.

    ** Preschool and Levels 1-4 require in-water parent participation due to COVID. 

    MISSION STATEMENT

    To provide quality education in a fun and relaxed setting to develop safe, confident swimmers.

    PROGRAM

    Both Lifesaving Society and Red Cross classes are offered. Other programs not listed are available upon request.

    SCHEDULE

    • A minimum of 5 lessons is required to complete one level. A 5-lesson package consists of daily lessons Monday-Friday for 1 week.
    • All programs will be designed according to demand and preference of participants.
    • Every effort will be made to accommodate time preferences, with priority based on date of registration.
    • Class lengths vary depending on swimmer age and number of participants. Private and group lessons with few participants are generally completed in less time.

    LOCATION

    Due to COVID-19, all lessons must be held at the registrant's dock.

    PREPARATION

    Students should bring a towel, sunscreen and lifejacket to every lesson. Please arrive 5 minutes early to keep classes on time.

    Payment: Full payment is due at time of registration for pre-school and levels 1-10 (and comparable). A $50.00 deposit is required for all other levels. A full refund will be given if there is insufficient demand to run a program, or if the times are not suitable. Once a class time has been determined and accepted, no refunds will be given. All prices are subject to HST. Cheques can be made payable to Zig Zag Yacht Club.

    Cancellation Policy:

    • In the event of rain, and the lake is safe to boat, on-land water-safety will be offered indoors instead of swimming.
    • Make-up lessons due to weather-related cancellations will generally be scheduled on weekends or the following week.
    • No other cancellations/refunds will be accepted.

    This class is focused on all things running. Expect to do running technique drills, special exercises to strengthen your feet, ankles and knees. Learn mobility drills to do before you run. Best of all, expect to do a combination of interval training in the sand and on the hill. This is a medium to high intensity class and is not appropriate for anyone with current lower body injuries. All levels of runners are welcome to this group. Ages 16 to Adult.


    For your own personal safety, Fitness Classes this summer will be focused on bodyweight exercises (i.e. no special equipment required).

    We are inviting participants in the Fitness Classes to bring the following equipment with them to each class in order to enhance their experience.

    1. Yoga Mat or Gym Mat or Thick Towel (at times we will be doing exercises on the ground in the sand court or on the deck)

    OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT FOR INCREASED LOAD

    • 2 x Cans of Food (these will be used as weights) or 2 x 1-3 lb dumbbells.
    • BackPack Filled up with load (i.e. books, more cans of food, a big bag of pet food, ...)

    Equipment cannot be left at the club and should be brought back to your cottage/home after each session.

    No sharing of any equipment or water bottles will be permitted.

Learn the big 3 areas that everyone needs to work on. Want to do the splits, squat flat footed all the way down with ease, touch your toes, reach freely and fully overhead, or improve your kicks? This class is for you. This class is for adult men and women who want to learn new drills and techniques to improve their mobility and flexibility.

    This combination of cardio, strength and flexibility training is geared toward adults, and can accommodate all fitness levels. This class is for adult men and women who want to learn to train safely and effectively while also getting a super training session in at the same time.


    For your own personal safety, Fitness Classes this summer will be focused on bodyweight exercises (i.e. no special equipment required).

    We are inviting participants in the Fitness Classes to bring the following equipment with them to each class in order to enhance their experience.

    YOUTH ATHLETE CONDITIONING

    This higher intensity workout program is geared toward youth athletes (teens), who are looking for conditioning to keep in shape during the summer. No matter whether your sport is hockey, tennis, rugby, golf, or dance … Mike will keep you on your game. This program will run two times per week for 4 weeks. 

    Classes are held on Tuesday and Thursday each week.

    Due to the higher intensity of these sessions, to avoid injury, participants are required to register for at least two consecutive weeks of classes.

    Due to Covid, our registrant group size limit is 8 - MAX 4 per court, so that means more practice for everyone! The lessons will be spaced with 15 minute intervals to ease social distancing, and ask registrants not to arrive earlier than the scheduled start time.

    Unfortunately, spectators are not allowed. Please bring your own water, and familiarize yourself with our Covid tennis guidelines which you can find on our website. We will assign each registrant a gate for entry and exit, and respectfully ask that you use only your assigned gate.

    Are you ready for the most intensive,exciting and fun tennis program in a setting that is almost heaven? Whether you come to be a champion or just to have fun,the experience,friendship and winning spirit will remain with you long after you leave.

    George and Kevin Kylar are trilled to return to ZZYC this year.

    George is a Tennis Canada certified coach level 3 and has been a part of the Manitoba tennis industry for close to 50 years. George is the owner of "KYLARS TENNIS ACADEMY" as well as the managing director of "SARGENT PARK TENNIS GARDEN". As a player, in 1987 he achieved the distinction of being the #1 ranked player in Canada in 35+category. As a coach, George is proud to have coached #1 players in Manitoba for past 24 years. (Doug Devriendt 1996-2009 and Kevin Kylar 2010-2019)

    Kevin is entering tenth year as #1 ranked player in Manitoba. Kevin continues to participate in many high level tournaments. Fall of 2019, Kevin enrolled 3 year honors bachelor of sports management/science degree at the University of Loughborough in England. Kevin is also a member of the U of L tennis team and collected 11-1 singles record in his 1st season.

    Together, George and Kevin provide a high level of instruction, "Moving Tennis From a Game of Skill To a Game For Life.

    Tennis lessons are back!

    This class is 1 Hour in length.

    Due to Covid, our registrant group size limit is 8 - MAX 4 per court, so that means more practice for everyone! The lessons will be spaced with 15 minute intervals to ease social distancing, and ask registrants not to arrive earlier than the scheduled start time.

    Unfortunately, spectators are not allowed. Please bring your own water, and familiarize yourself with our Covid tennis guidelines which you can find on our website. We will assign each registrant a gate for entry and exit, and respectfully ask that you use only your assigned gate.

    George and Kevin Kylar are trilled to return to ZZYC this year.

    George is a Tennis Canada certified coach level 3 and has been a part of the Manitoba tennis industry for close to 50 years. George is the owner of "KYLARS TENNIS ACADEMY" as well as the managing director of "SARGENT PARK TENNIS GARDEN". As a player, in 1987 he achieved the distinction of being the #1 ranked player in Canada in 35+category. As a coach, George is proud to have coached #1 players in Manitoba for past 24 years. (Doug Devriendt 1996-2009 and Kevin Kylar 2010-2019)

    Kevin is entering tenth year as #1 ranked player in Manitoba. Kevin continues to participate in many high level tournaments. Fall of 2019, Kevin enrolled 3 year honors bachelor of sports management/science degree at the University of Loughborough in England. Kevin is also a member of the U of L tennis team and collected 11-1 singles record in his 1st season.

    Together, George and Kevin provide a high level of instruction, "Moving Tennis From a Game of Skill To a Game For Life.

    This combination of cardio, strength and flexibility training is geared toward adults, and can accommodate all fitness levels. This class is for adult men and women who want to learn to train safely and effectively while also getting a super training session in at the same time.


    For your own personal safety, Fitness Classes this summer will be focused on bodyweight exercises (i.e. no special equipment required).

    We are inviting participants in the Fitness Classes to bring the following equipment with them to each class in order to enhance their experience.

    1. Yoga Mat or Gym Mat or Thick Towel (at times we will be doing exercises on the ground in the sand court or on the deck)

    OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT FOR INCREASED LOAD

    • 2 x Cans of Food (these will be used as weights) or 2 x 1-3 lb dumbbells.
    • BackPack Filled up with load (i.e. books, more cans of food, a big bag of pet food, ...)

    Equipment cannot be left at the club and should be brought back to your cottage/home after each session.

    YOUTH ATHLETE CONDITIONING

    This higher intensity workout program is geared toward youth athletes (teens), who are looking for conditioning to keep in shape during the summer. No matter whether your sport is hockey, tennis, rugby, golf, or dance … Mike will keep you on your game. This program will run two times per week for 4 weeks. 

    Classes are held on Tuesday and Thursday each week.

    Due to the higher intensity of these sessions, to avoid injury, participants are required to register for at least two consecutive weeks of classes.

    This class is focused on all things running. Expect to do running technique drills, special exercises to strengthen your feet, ankles and knees. Learn mobility drills to do before you run. Best of all, expect to do a combination of interval training in the sand and on the hill. This is a medium to high intensity class and is not appropriate for anyone with current lower body injuries. All levels of runners are welcome to this group. Ages 16 to Adult.

    We invite individuals (ages 7 and up) of all skill levels to come have fun on the water, learn to sail or improve their sailing skills, and make friends. Sailing is a great way to spend a summer day!

    Program includes, games on land and water, as well as CANSail Sailing curriculum.

    General Information:

    • The Learn to Sail Program will run for 6 weeks this summer Monday through Friday from 9am – 12pm.
    • All Learn to Sail course sessions are one week long and follow the CANSail curriculum.
    • With a focus on having fun, certified sailing instructors teach key skills to different levels and ages with a priority on safe learning for everyone.
    • The Head Instructor will attempt to accommodate all requests for lessons, depending on boat and instructor availability.
    • The Club makes every effort to accommodate all desired registrations but reserves the right to limit class size to ensure a safe environment for all.
    • Classes are open to members and guests.

    Swimming lessons run 5 consecutive days Monday to Friday. We have not pre-scheduled class times as we'd like to try and accommodate everyone as best as possible. When you register you'll be asked to give your week and time preference.

    ** Preschool and Levels 1-4 require in-water parent participation due to COVID. 

     

    MISSION STATEMENT

    To provide quality education in a fun and relaxed setting to develop safe, confident swimmers.

    PROGRAM

    Both Lifesaving Society and Red Cross classes are offered. Other programs not listed are available upon request.

    SCHEDULE

    • A minimum of 5 lessons is required to complete one level. A 5-lesson package consists of daily lessons Monday-Friday for 1 week.
    • All programs will be designed according to demand and preference of participants.
    • Every effort will be made to accommodate time preferences, with priority based on date of registration.
    • Class lengths vary depending on swimmer age and number of participants. Private and group lessons with few participants are generally completed in less time.

    LOCATION

    Due to COVID-19, all lessons must be held at the registrant's dock.

    PREPARATION

    Students should bring a towel, sunscreen and lifejacket to every lesson. Please arrive 5 minutes early to keep classes on time.

    Payment: Full payment is due at time of registration for pre-school and levels 1-10 (and comparable). A $50.00 deposit is required for all other levels. A full refund will be given if there is insufficient demand to run a program, or if the times are not suitable. Once a class time has been determined and accepted, no refunds will be given. All prices are subject to HST. Cheques can be made payable to Zig Zag Yacht Club.

    Cancellation Policy:

    • In the event of rain, and the lake is safe to boat, on-land water-safety will be offered indoors instead of swimming.
    • Make-up lessons due to weather-related cancellations will generally be scheduled on weekends or the following week.
    • No other cancellations/refunds will be accepted.
